Increasing Awareness About HIV and AIDS
Grades 9-12

The magnitude of AIDS-60 million people infected worldwide; 15 million children orphaned-can be overwhelming, yet it has never been more important for Christians to understand and respond to the pandemic. This resource provides case studies and statistics to help young people expand their awareness of AIDS and relate to the plight of children in communities devastated by the disease. Participants find out how they can join the global effort to fight AIDS and explore how, as Christians, they can bring compassionate support to affected families. Breaking the Silence includes adaptable sessions for groups of any size and numerous stand-alone activities, including Bible studies.

What participants can do:

• Create an image with arts crafts supplies that brings meaning to the AIDS pandemic.
• Hold an AIDS quiz show, complete with host.
• Explore the role Christians play in helping to eradicate AIDS.
